What does God think about the Church? | SCOTT SILCOX

“How dare we push to the circumference what God has placed at the centre?”

-JOHN STOTT

“As a plan for the fullness of time, to unite all things in him, things in heaven and things on earth.” - Ephesians 1:10

“He…gave him as head over all things to the church, which is his body…” Ephesians 1:22-23

“You are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God…”

“…being joined together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord.”

“In him you also are being built together into a dwelling place for God by the Spirit.”

“so that through the church the manifold wisdom of God might now be made known to the rulers and authorities in the heavenly places.“ - Ephesians 3:10

THROUGH THE CHURCH

“He gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ.”

“...When each part is working properly, makes the body grow

so that it builds itself up in love.”

Ephesians 4:11-13, 16b

“Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her.”

Ephesians 5:25

“10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. 11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. 12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. 13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God...”

Ephesians 6:10-13

What does God think about the Church?

  1. The Church was God's idea before it was ours.

  1. God isn't just saving individuals. He's building a people.

  1. Christ is too magnificent for one person to display Him fully.

  1. God reveals Himself through the Church.

  1. Christ loved the Church and gave Himself for Her.

  1. The Church stands together.

Do I believe enough in what God is building...to give myself to it?
