Life Groups

What is a Life Group?
A Life Group is a gathering of 8-12 people who desire to have community where relationships can deepen beyond a quick hello on Sunday mornings. Life Groups meet in homes and provide a casual, comfortable atmosphere where it's easy to get to know other people at the Rock. Life Groups study the Bible, do service projects, pray, barbeque, chat, eat ice cream, hang out together, laugh, cry, watch movies-whatever! Life Groups are about living life together.

What can I expect at a Life Group?
Everyone likes to know what to expect when they encounter a new situation. Although every Life Group is unique, here are a few things that will be consistent from group to group:

  • A Life Group's pertinent information (demographic, meeting location, contact, childcare information, etc.) is communicated on our website on our 'Find a Life Group' page.
  • All Life Groups are led by mature believers who are knowledgeable in the Word of God.
  • All Life Groups follow flexible guidelines that everyone discusses and agrees to, such as when they will meet and what they will study. Guidelines give structure and allow all members to participate in the development of the culture of their Group.

Who leads the Life Groups?
The Leaders of our Life Groups are as varied as the people of the Rock Church. Some have formal Bible college education, but most are just people who have demonstrated a mature relationship with Christ and a solid, balanced understanding of Biblical principles. They are business people, teachers, truck drivers, stay-at-home-parents; they are people just like you who have a desire to lead others into a deeper relationship with Christ.

How do I join a Life Group?
Once you're ready to look for a Life Group to join, take a look at these ideas for easy ways to get involved:

  • Contact the Leader or Host. They will be able to tell you all there is to know about their Life Group-including what they are studying and where they meet.
  • Visit the Life Group. Feel free to engage in the discussion or just sit back and observe. There's no pressure to decided right away whether or not you want to join this group! Go home and devote some time to thinking about the type of Life Group you want to be a part of. Is this the one? Maybe you would like to visit again before you make up your mind?
  • Once you decide on a Life Group, contact the group Leader and let them know! They can fill you in on anything else you need to know!
