November Teaching Series | I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For

You broke the bonds, And you loosed the chains
Carried the cross, Of my shame, Oh my shame
You know I believe it

But I still haven't found what I'm looking for

 If you don't already know it, these lyrics belong to the U2 song, "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking  For."  In an interview with Rolling Stone Magazine, Bono explained that this song was "an anthem of doubt more than faith."  We've been there - have you? 

In our heads, most of us, we know it.  We know that if we fill our lives up with money, possessions, achievements, conquests, etc. - it's not going to be those things that make us feel complete.  (If you don't already know it, make a note, it's true!)  Some of us know more than what our life's purpose is not, we believe that our life's purpose can be found in the teachings of Christ.  We believe that our purpose for living can be fulfilled in loving God, and loving others (Matthew 22:36-40).  Even then, we sometimes find ourselves at a loss for how to live that purpose out in a practical way in our every day activities.  (That wasn't love we expressed out the window when that guy cut us off in traffic yesterday!) 

So how do we do it.  If a life lived with purpose is a a life spent loving God and loving others - what does that look like every day?  You are warmly invited to join with The Rock Church Family for the month of November as we endeavor to find out together!  We meet every Sunday at Meadowdale High School in Lynnwood at 10 AM.  Dress is casual, coffee is tasty, and you are always welcome!
